Your Financial Future Depends on Your Credit Scores

If you have been putting off your annual free credit report, I implore you to get it right now. Either contact the credit bureaus by hand or use one of those Internet services. It is imperative that you know your scores because your scores affect almost every area of your financial life. Do this right now for the following reasons: 1. If there are mistakes, which there well might be, they need to be corrected ASAP.
2. Even if there are no errors, you need to know the big picture. If you have open lines of credit that you do not use or that you have forgotten about, close them now to raise your scores.
3. If your credit is good, you can rest easy. If it is terrible, you need to fix it pronto or you risk a lifetime of poverty and shame. Seriously -- people with bad credit pay more for everything. So stop putting it off and check your credit reports right this instant! This is no joke unless you consider your financial life to be a joke in which case just forget about it.
